The Language Unit provides specialist support for children aged between 3 and 11years old with speech, language and communication difficulties. 

Our Specialist Language Teachers and Teaching Assistants can provide universal and targeted training offers to primary school staff, as well as advice and guidance to parents. A link to this training offer schedule is at the bottom of this page. 

In addition to this, we have a 40 place provision for primary aged pupils with specific and significant speech and language impairments. Referrals to this provision are made by NHS Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists. 

Pupils remain on roll at their home school, attending the Language Unit for 2 sessions per week. For the academic year 2026-27, these sessions will take place on a Monday and a Wednesday, with pupils attending one morning and one afternoon session per week.
